Ken and Michelle are members of the BTCA. They have had Borders for six years and currently have two Borders: CH Sunrise the Heat is On and CH Sunrise I Try. Nancy has been a border terrier owner for 6.5 years. She currently owns two borders: six year old Jack and 4.5 year old Ernie. Nancy enjoys agility with her dogs and is interested in Earthdog. Nancy is willing to help our club in anyway needed and is endorsed by Jan Hendricks and Phyllis Harwood.

2012 Border Terrier National Specialty

Artist Sue Fisher has completed the beautiful logo for the 2012 National Specialty. Drawing inspiration from the site of the specialty, the Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Sue has selected an Olympic theme for the image. The GLBTC extends special thanks to Sue and her team of artistic advisors, Nancy Hughes, Karen Fitzpatrick, Laurale Stern, and Ann Mancione. Now that we have a logo, the games may truly begin!
GLBTC to Host First BTCA Regional Specialty
Great Lakes Border Terrier Club will host the first ever Border Terrier Club of America Regional Specialty on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in conjunction with International Kennel Club of Chicago, Inc. Jerry Klein will judge breed, Laurale Stern will judge Sweepstakes, and Susan Olsen will serve as show chair. Jim Ham will judge Obedience and Patricia Scully will serve as Rally judge. In addition, GLBTC will host a BTCA Supported Entry on Sunday, February 27, with Polly Smith as judge. The shows will be held at McCormick Place North, 23rd and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. These will be the 149th and 150th All Breed Benched Dog Shows for the International Kennel Club of Chicago, Inc. A special tribute to Amateur-Owner-Handlers is planned for Saturday and Sunday with AOH Best of Breed and Groups. There will be no AKC fee, no entry fee, NO CHARGE for the AOH class! Saturday will also feature Puppy Best of Breed and Groups. McCormick Place North provides easy loading and unloading on three sides of the building to facilitate exhibitors' access. IKC offers exhibitor discounted parking as well. In addition, IKC will provide a free two day catalog (one per family) to exhibitors. While Saturday and Sunday are Benched shows, there will be early release for performance both days. There will also be early release for Conformation dogs on Sunday. GLBTC will participate in the popular "Meet the Breed," educating the public on the border terrier. The International Kennel Club of Chicago, Inc. dog shows are part of a four day cluster which also include the Park Shore Kennel Club and Blackhawk Kennel Club unbenched dog shows on Thursday and Friday, February 24 and 25, 2011. Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, www.onofrio.com,will again serve as superintendent. Shows will close on February 9, 2011.Regional Specialty and Sweepstakes prizes will be provided by highly regarded artists Lonny and Jean Moore of www.oakhillpottery.com, Oak Hill, Kansas. They will create images of border terriers set against a hint of the Chicago skyline. Sunday's Supported Entry will feature stained glass artwork created by Diane Blasius of www.mungoworks.com. Diane Blasius provided the stained glass for our 2009 Supported Entry. A very special thanks to Elaine Brown, Dearborn, MI, for chairing the trophy committee.
