On January 23, 2010, Meadowlake Oban O'Brandywine JE finished her championship in Oshkosh. Obie has been a trooper, and she and I have been to lots of shows, mainly in Wisconsin and Illinois. We never gave up and along the way we have met and become friends with a lot of people and dogs. Obie is a social butterfly and she always got along with her competition except her half sister Abbey. Sibling rivalry I guess. Obie finished with her breeder, Karen Fitzpatrick handling her. Thank you, Karen! A special thanks goes to Lisa Venske, who always helped in grooming to make Obie look her very best. In the words of Margaret Henning, speaking about Obie's finishing, "It's an end of an era."

Every dog has his day, and ten-month-old CH Faireview's Roar of the Crowd had four of them in a row, finishing his championship at IKC Chicago on Sunday, February 28. He entered the Chicago cluster with a total of six points, including one major, but kicked it into high gear for his hometown crowd. He picked up his second major as Winners Dog on Thursday, earned a five point major on Friday going BOW and BOS over two specials, was awarded Best Puppy from the regular classes on Saturday, and picked up a fourth major (4 point) on Sunday as Winners Dog. His four majors came at the hands of three handlers: Margaret Henning, Susie Kipp and Scott Kipp. He is the first of Riley's third litter (CH Maustrappe's Sunday Driver JE, ROM x CH Skyline The Life of Riley JE, ROM) to finish and is especially proud to deliver the Silver ROM to his momma. We are very grateful to Kathy and Margaret Henning for entrusting him to us, and to the Hennings and Elaine Brown for their continuing support, patience, and mentorship. We are so proud of our Rory and anxious to see what the future holds for him.

On February 13, 2010, Conundrum Iron Lady SE NA NAJ (Maggie) finished her CH with a four point major under Mr. R.R. Hartinger, expertly handled by Holley Eldred. This also gives her the necessary points for a Versatility title from the BTCA. In between showing, Maggie has produced two beautiful litters with her puppyhood sweetheart, Miles, as well as doing agility and Earthdog--her two real loves in life. Thanks to expert grooming help from Jennifer Tollefson and Laurale Stern, and beautiful handling from Holley Eldred, she has finally reached her potential. Thanks so much to Jane Parker for allowing her to cross the pond and live with us--we wanted a boy but ended up with our sweet if crazy foundation bitch, Maggie!

After a brief stay with her breeder and co-owner, Karen Fitzpatrick, we are pleased to share that our girl, Dory, can now be known as CH Meadowlake Just Keep Swimming! Once she got going, Dory finished quickly with two majors from the Chicago International Kennel Club weekend followed by a third major at the Louisville cluster, which gave her the points she needed to finish. Next on Dory's dance card includes health checks and some performance events starting with earthdog this spring.

Sigfried (CH Skeldale's Sigfried Farnon JE NAJ) became our first bred and owned champion on March 20, 2010, when he went BOW for a 5 point major in Louisville KY under Judge Julie Felten. He was expertly groomed and shown to the win by Karen Fitzpatrick. He is the third to finish from Maggie and Miles' first litter (CH Kandu's Marathon Man RN, JE X CH Conundrum Iron Lady SE, NA, NAJ.) Sigfried's championship provides his sire, Miles, seven championship offspring, qualifying him for the Bronze ROM from the BTCA. Sigfried is now continuing his earthdog and agility careers. At the Champaign-Urbana Earth Dog test on April 25, Connor earned his 4th leg to complete his Master Earth Dog title! The last few trials he has done very well on different parts of the test on different days, with one of us learning something different with each attempt. Today, in steady rain, under well respected judge MA Klein, Connor put it all together to complete his Master Earthdog title with very complimentary remarks from the judge. I never would have guessed that Connor is a "mudder!" We also enjoyed our hotel stay and Connor particularly enjoyed being the only one on this trip, and lay on the bed looking out the first floor window wagging his tail fiercely at every one that walked by. Connor can now be known as CH Kernow's There Can Be Only One ME. (Photo above, center)

At the Border Terrier National Specialty in Tyron, North Carolina May 12-13, 2010, Thistle received several 1st legs in the AKC events. The first ribbon is her qualifying ribbon for Intro to Quarry (non-regular class) along with a white rabbit. The next is the qualifying ribbon for Junior Earthdog along with a stuffed toy. She will need one more leg to get a JE title (since then she has completed the JE title). The next set of ribbons are for her first leg in Novice Obedience where she placed third. The last ribbon is for placing first in Rally Obedience Excellent.
In the second picture, Thistle is pictured after a UKC Trial in May. The first three ribbons are her Rally Obedience level 2 where she placed 4th twice, including her title pendant. The next two ribbons are her 2nd and 3rd legs for Novice Obedience where she placed 4th and 2nd including her title pendant. GCH Faireview Mile Marker began his conformation career at six months, accumulating 13 points, including both majors, in five weekends, owner-breeder handled. In Tryon, North Carolina in May, Barbara Dalane, Steinbacher Border Terriers, selected him Best in Sweepstakes at the Border Terrier Club of America National Specialty. Along with half brother, CH Meadowlake Triple Espresso, he also won the Brace class. Walker finished his championship at eight months of age on May 22, 2010, under Judge Patricia Trotter. The next day, his first time in the ring as a special, he took breed over two specials and went on to take a Group 3 under Judge Denny Mounce. Walker completed his Grand Championship on August 1, 2010 at ten months of age with six majors, five with champions defeated! Now, he will take off some time from conformation and try his luck in the obedience ring. We are so proud of our young Walker!
